User Guide 

 1. Introduction

This user guide helps you use ST860U EDGE modem quickly.

·        Check your notebook and make sure it comes with a USB port which the EDGE modem requires

·        Insert SIM card correctly

·        Turn on your notebook and install ST860U manager software from the driver CD provided

·        Insert EDGE modem into a USB port when prompted to complete driver installation

·        You can connect to the network, make a call and send a message by clicking the ST860U icon on your desktop

2. Requirements

Please check your notebook before using ST860U EDGE modem:

·        The operating system of your notebook: Windows 2000/XP/Vista

·        USB 2.0 port

·        Free EMS memory of your notebook: 32MB

·        Free disk space of your notebook: 20MB

·        CD ROM drive

·        WEB browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox

3. Installation and uninstallation

You must install ST860U manager before using ST860U EDGE modem.

·        First, run setup.exe in the 'st860u' folder of the driver CD

·        Follow the on-screen instructions by clicking 'Next' to accept default settings, such as installation path and desktop shortcut

·        Insert ST860U EDGE modem when prompted, and wait for the completion of self installing of the modem drivers

·        Click 'OK' and then 'Finish' to complete installation

Uninstall:

·        Click 'Start' -> 'programs' -> 'ST860U' -> 'Uninstall ST860U Manager'

·        Follow the on-screen instructions to finish uninstallation

4. Inserting EDGE modem

Insert EDGE modem into a free USB port as the following picture. Before you insert the modem, please make sure your SIM Card supports EDGE/GPRS/GSM networks. Please pay attention to the indentation of the SIM card when inserting it. If you want to make a call, you can use the earphones provided.



Please install ST860U manager software first before you insert the EDGE modem into the USB port.

If you want to pull out the modem, please do as follows:

·        Close 'ST860U EDGE Manager'

·        Click on the taskbar to safely remove ST860U EDGE modem

·        Pull out ST860U EDGE modem

·        To remove the SIM card, use your finger to gently press the SIM card in and release the pressure

·        The SIM card will pop up out of the slot, proceed to remove it
